Subject: Paper Moon: Sunday Dancing

New!Sunday Dancing moved to late afternoon!  This week begins the new times for Sundays: Beginner Group Class 4-5pm and Social Dance 5-8pm.  The later time will allow you to enjoy the daylight hours and get home in time for a good night's sleep before the workweek starts.  The first 10 people get in to the social dance for half price (only $5)!

Competition Calendar: Calling all 1st- and 2nd-year dancers!  The Eleventh Annual Harvard Beginner’s Competition is coming up on Saturday, October 25, and the deadline to register online (at http://www.kiwicamara.com/begcomp/) is October 13, just 6 days away!  This competition is only $10 per person, an unheard-of price!  Doors open at 3:30pm and competitions begin at 4pm, followed by the Rookie Team Match (details below), Awards Ceremony, Male/Male vs. Female/Female Challenge, and Dinner.  Events are Bronze Swing and Foxtrot, and Silver Rumba and Tango.  You can enter as few as one or as many as all four of these events!  For the Team Match event, four couples from Paper Moon (two couples dancing the Swing and two the Foxtrot – first come, first served as far as choice of what you will dance!) will dance against four couples from each of the other teams.  One of the only competitions of its kind, the Harvard Beginner’s Competition is an opportunity for first- and second-year dancers to experience a competition centered on you!  There will be no intimidating, experienced dancers out there.  You will also find out how you rank against the dancers in your category, which will give you a chance to see how your dancing measures up, and to get some feedback on how to improve it!  This Competition is a great place to meet other dancers from the New England area and to develop contacts and relationships for the year ahead.  Contact Maria for details, to register with your partner, or for help in finding a partner!  Next competition: the Seacoast Classic, January 10, 2004 (mark your calendars now!)
