NHABDA - March 18 06 Once again we were honored with an invitation to participate in a New Hampshire Amateur Ballroom Dance Association event. This year it was for the March 18 St. Patrick's Day Dance at Pinkerton Academy in Derry. The evening started off with about 100 dancers learning a few West Coast Swing moves taught by Dave and Maria. By the time the actual dance started, there were about 200 dancers on the floor enjoying live music provided by Rico Barr. At 8:30 some of our teachers and students performed a Showcase starting with Maria leading Cathy Walter in a lead-and-follow West Coast Swing. Michael von Dadelzson and Leticia Quiles wowed the crowd with a "revealing" East Coast Swing rendition of Bobby Darren's Splish Splash. Next, Jake Meier and Jen Ferreira impressed everybody with a rumba-cha-cha-hustle-swing medley that they choreographed themselves! Finally, our new instructor Peter Narkotsky made us very proud by leading Maria through a divine waltz, blending elements from both American and International styles. Enjoy the pictures below or the video of the waltz here. For related links, please or see our pages from the 2004 and 2005 NHABDA-Paper Moon dances or visit the NHABDA website.
